Inside Line Promotions – RAPID CITY, S.D. (June 18, 2019) – Roger Crockett is inching closer to the consistency that his program strives to achieve.

Crockett produced a pair of top-10 results during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader in South Dakota last weekend. He now ranks sixth in the championship standings – only 22 points out of the top five.

“Both tracks we went to were fun,” he said after making his debut at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen on Friday and at Black Hills Speedway on Saturday. “For the layout of it Black Hills was fairly racy. I really liked the place. It’s a really cool setting the way it sits down. The track was wide with plenty of room to race. I really enjoyed it.”

The air quality was the biggest obstacle all weekend for Crockett, who finished third in a heat race and eighth in the main event on Friday at Brown County Speedway.

“The first night we struggled getting the tune-up right on the motor,” he said. “We didn’t really get it a whole lot better. The air is so bad and our fuel sheet doesn’t go that far. We thought we went far enough and just didn’t.

“I had anticipated in this part of the country you don’t really know exactly what the air will be until you get there. We’ll have the same thing in Montana in a couple of weeks. I need to call and give more information to the engine builder so they can get me dialed in.”

Saturday was smoother at Black Hills Speedway, where Crockett advanced from fourth to second in a heat race and from fifth to fourth place in the A Main.

“The car handled great all night and had decent speed,” he said. “If we had the motor crisp we could have been on the podium. We almost were on it even with the way it was.”

Next up is the 48th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup this Thursday through Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash.

“I have had a lot of good runs at the Dirt Cup and at Skagit in general,” Crockett said. “It’s been a comfortable place for me even though a lot has changed over the years. I really enjoy going there and you won’t find a cooler setting in our sport. It’s a classic place and I appreciate it every time I go there.”

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Olson Custom Designs

Olson Custom Designs, which is based in Indianapolis, is a CNC machine/fabrication shop owned by two brothers, Mitch and Brian Olson. For more information, visit http://www.OlsonCustomDesigns.com.

“The OCD in their name fits because they are OCD about their product,” Crockett said. “They are so picky about building a great product. People looking for top notch and high quality, they are really good at it. What they’ve been able to build in a short time is amazing. They have a really cool wing ramp clamp that works really good and their birdcages are really, really nice.”

Crockett would also like to thank Route 66 Chevrolet, BC Motorsports, Rocket Designs, FK Rod Ends, Weld Racing, JR-1 Chassis, Champion Racing Oil, Tracker Native Tobacco, Bell Helmets, PAC Racing Springs/Schroeder Series Torsion Bars and KSE Racing Products for their continued support.
