Inside Line Promotions – RAPID CITY, S.D. (June 18, 2019) – Alex Hill scored her first two top-10 finishes this year with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last weekend in South Dakota.

“It was a pretty decent weekend,” she said. “We ran some good laps on slick tracks, which are the more difficult tracks for me. That was encouraging.”

Hill began her weekend on Friday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, where she settled for a 10th-place finish after a slight miscue cost her a couple of positions late in the race.

“I had been running the top of the track and had moved up to eighth,” said Hill, who started 10th after advancing from sixth to fifth place in a heat race. “We had a restart around halfway and I moved to the bottom. I was doing pretty well until I clipped an infield tire near the end of the race. It bent my steering and I finished 10th.”

Hill began the following night at Black Hills Speedway with a solid run in her heat race after starting fifth.

“I was able to move up to second when we had an open red for a non-racing situation,” she said. “I got passed on the restart and finished third. We had a faster car than the others before the open red and I think we would have finished second or won it if the race wouldn’t have stopped.”

Hill qualified for the feature redraw and drew the seventh starting position in the main event.

“I lost a spot or two on the start,” she said. “I had a little trouble getting around the lapped cars and got passed by another car later to finish 10th. It was difficult to pass later in the race since the track took rubber.”

Next up for Hill and the ASCS National Tour is the 48th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., this Thursday through Saturday.

“I’m excited to race the Dirt Cup,” Hill said. “It’s a great event and I really like Skagit. We’ve been decent there in the past and we’ve been running better lately so we’re hoping to keep improving. It’s a tough event with lots of strong competition. I’m also looking forward to seeing our Washington friends.”
