Inside Line Promotions – RAPID CITY, S.D. (June 18, 2019) – Robbie Price hustled to his best Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour feature finish this season during the final race of a doubleheader last weekend.
It was a big boost following a frustrating recent month of racing, which continued on Friday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D. Price placed fourth in a heat race and 14th in the A Main.
“I had a barrel valve issue and our engine wasn’t running right,” he said. “I thought it was the mag so we changed that during the day on Saturday. It didn’t want to run so we changed more stuff. We eventually decided to change motors.”
Price pulled in before the start of his heat race on Saturday evening at Black Hills Speedway and the team began to change the engine. He then started near the back of the B Main and charged from 10th to win it, earning a transfer into the main event. Price continued to march forward as he rallied from 17th to a seventh-place finish. It garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
“We were definitely better in the A Main,” he said. “I felt pretty good. The last yellow hurt us. We also had a rock wreck a shock so we were running around there with only three shocks. Otherwise I think we had a top-five car. It was good to finally have a good run and get some morale back in the team.”
Price heads to familiar territory this weekend as the ASCS National Tour visits Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., this Thursday through Saturday for the 48th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup.
“I expect to run in the top three every night,” he said. “I have high expectations. We’ll go out there and run our own race and do the best we can.”
